7th grade students at Montgomery Middle STEAM Magnet are raising oak trees from seedlings. There is an invasive insect called the Gold-Spotted Oak Borer which is causing mature oaks to die off in San Diego County. Together with our partner the San Diego River Park Foundation, students have been raising oak trees on campus that are being planted in a preserve managed by the San Diego River Park Foundation.
